A short constitutional affairs debate took place in the Lords Grand Committee on February 6. Alistair Lexden referred to incomplete information provided by the Treasury on the historical background to some of the matters that were discussed. He asked the Treasury Minister who replied to the debate if he would “ check on the state of the Treasury’s archives and, assuming that no misfortune has befallen them, consider issuing a departmental directive that they should be consulted to provide answers to historical points”.
