On October 19th the House of Lords held a short debate on a motion moved by Lord Lexden. It provided an opportunity for peers to consider how the Northern Ireland economy, now heavily dependent on the public sector, could be rebalanced in order to stimulate private sector growth.
The main issue highlighted in the debate was whether a special low rate of corporation tax of 12.5 per cent should be introduced to boost investment and jobs.
